Barclays strategists expect the Fed to start buying treasury securities in February after a number of key Fed officials hinted at expanding its balance sheet. "Given the market focus on repo rates, the Fed is in risk management mode and an early start to asset purchases seems the most likely outcome," wrote Samuel Earl, strategist at Barclays.
