Crypto miner Bitfarms has announced plans to gradually shut down its bitcoin mining operations over the next two years and instead focus on providing high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Bitfarms is one of a growing number of miners turning to high-performance computing services as the falling price of bitcoin narrows profit margins. The company also said its facilities in Washington state will be remodeled to support AI or high-performance computing tasks.
