IMF: US GDP growth will slow in the fourth quarter due to government "shutdown"

A spokesperson for the international monetary fund said the fund had detected signs of weakness in the US economy. US GDP growth in the fourth quarter is expected to be lower than the 1.9 per cent it had forecast, partly because of the government "shutdown". But the lack of data due to the "shutdown" has affected the IMF's ability to assess the performance of the US economy.
