Marc Cogliatti, an analyst at Validus Risk Management, said in a note that the dollar will continue to face weakness in the medium to long term. He believes that the dollar is still overvalued despite its decline since President Trump took office in January. Trump has also been advocating for a significant reduction in interest rates. Although this has not yet materialized, concerns about the independence of the Federal Reserve have weighed on market sentiment. In addition, he said ballooning deficits have long threatened to destabilize the U.S. debt market. While markets rarely move in a straight line and go through periods of consolidation, any recovery in the dollar is likely to be short-lived, he said.
