Colombian President Gustavo Petro is suspected of accepting more than $500,000 in digital tokens from a fraudulent cryptocurrency project during his 2022 campaign. According to a former contractor, the illegal donation took place during a February 2022 meeting where the advantages of cryptocurrencies and the possibility of policy partnerships were discussed. The allegation is one of the latest allegations President Petro has faced during his campaign, following an investigation into his campaign by Colombia's attorney general's office last year.
