According to CoinDesk, the United States is stepping up efforts to crack down on overseas scams that lure people into sending cryptocurrencies. On Wednesday, the US Treasury announced the establishment of the "Fraud Center Task Force", revealing the latest move to crack down on Myanmar fraud gangs that lure Americans with fake investments. The task force, which is co-founded by the Department of Justice and others, aims to crack down on "romance scams", which are mostly orchestrated by large organized crime gangs in Myanmar and other places. The group, led by the US attorney for the District of Columbia, plans to mobilize the Justice Department, the Treasury Department and other departments to dismantle South East Asia transnational criminal enterprises that steal huge sums of money from Americans.
