Microsoft will use OpenAI custom chip technology to assist internal research and development efforts

Microsoft (MSFT. O) plans to use its access to OpenAI's custom artificial intelligence chip development to advance its own chip project. Asked about the progress of Microsoft's internal chip development, CEO Nadella said in a podcast: "When they [OpenAI] innovate at the system level, we get full access to those results. We will first implement the technology they build for them, and then build on that." Under the revised agreement between the two companies, Microsoft can continue to access OpenAI's models until 2032 and share its research until 2030, or until a panel of experts determines that artificial general intelligence (AGI) has been achieved.
