"The U.S. federal government shutdown has delayed the release of nearly all federal economic data for September and October. While the government shutdown appears to be coming to an end, it will take time for statistical agencies to process the backlog," Goldman Sachs economists Elsie Peng and Ronnie Walker said in a note. Goldman expects the Bureau of Labor Statistics to release its latest October jobs data early next week (Tuesday or Wednesday), assuming the U.S. government reopens by the end of the week, but otherwise the release of other major data is expected to be delayed. That means the November jobs report and inflation report could be "delayed by at least a week," Goldman said.
