Anthony Pompliano, author of The Pomp Letter, a financial newsletter, offered his opinion on Trump's statement today that he would pay at least $2,000 in tariff dividends to every American: "If Trump does hand out $2,000 from tariffs to citizens, then history may regard the panic talk of April 2025 as one of the stupidest mainstream consensuses we have ever seen in our generation. A $2,000 per person tariff dividend would also unleash powerful liquidity in the market."
Trump tweeted earlier today: Those who oppose tariffs are fools! We are now the richest and most respected country in the world, with almost zero inflation and an all-time high in the stock market. 401k pension account balances are also at an all-time high. We are earning trillions of dollars a year and will soon be able to start paying down huge debts of up to $37 trillion. Investment in the US is at an all-time high, and factories and businesses are springing up. Dividends of at least $2,000 will be paid to everyone (excluding high earners!).
