According to a 10-Q filing with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), Block Inc. (ticker XYZ), the fintech and digital payments giant founded by Jack Dorsey, posted revenue of $6.11 billion in the third quarter, with net profit of $461.50 million.
"Block's gross profit grew 18 per cent year-on-year in the third quarter, led by 24 per cent growth in Cash App and 9 per cent growth in Square," Ms Dorsey said in her letter to shareholders.
According to data from The Wall Street Journal and The Block, Block's stock price closed at $70.94, down 3.7%, and fell a further 9.6% to $64.10 after hours.
Block's bitcoin revenue is about $1.97 billion, accounting for nearly a third of total revenue, down from $2.40 billion in the same period last year, but still the second-largest source of revenue after subscription and services revenue.
