According to ZachXBT, George Cottrell, a key adviser to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, is the mysterious "big guy" behind several key Donald Trump-related Polymarket bets.
Mr. Cottrell, who has a US conviction for wire fraud, was described by Mr. Farage's team as an "unpaid volunteer", but he often accompanied Mr. Farage to campaign events.
Mr. Farage had previously described Mr. Cottrell as "treating me like a son".
An account linked to Mr. Cottrell is said to have placed bets on Mr. Trump's election on the Polymarket platform; it is also hoping to cash in on "Trump shaking hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping for six to 10 seconds". Mr. Farage is also increasingly receptive to cryptocurrencies, claiming that the UK Reform Party is the industry's "only hope".
