Schmid: The labor market is generally balanced, and small interest rate cuts cannot solve structural problems

The Fed's Mr. Schmid said the labour market was generally in balance and that any pressure was more likely to stem from structural changes, and that a small rate cut would not solve these problems. If markets question the Fed's commitment to its 2 per cent inflation target, a rate cut could instead hurt. (Jin Ten)
