The Australian Federal Police have uncovered a cryptocurrency wallet containing $6.40 million that is believed to be the illicit proceeds of an organised crime group.
The operation is part of a broader crackdown on encrypted communication networks believed to be exploited by criminal enterprises. The Australian Federal Police revealed that they had deciphered the mnemonic words of the criminals' wallets and seized a total of $6.40 million. In addition, the police arrested Jay Je Yoon Jung, a 32-year-old Sydney resident, who is accused of developing Ghost, a highly encrypted messaging platform that police say is designed for criminal organisations.
