Two days after unveiling the final testnet deployment of Fusaka, the next major upgrade to Ethereum, Ethereum Foundation researchers have now officially finalized the date for the mainnet hard fork. During an all-core developer conference call on Thursday, Ethereum Foundation researchers said that Fusaka will go live on December 3. The backward-compatible Fusaka hard fork will implement about a dozen Ethereum improvement proposals aimed at improving the sustainability, security, and scalability of the base chain and the surrounding second-layer ecosystem.
Notably, Fusaka will introduce PeerDAS technology to provide validators with a more efficient way to access data. PeerDAS was originally planned to be included in Ethereum's last major upgrade, Pectra, in February this year, but was delayed due to testing needs. Additionally, Fusaka will increase Ethereum's block gas limit from 30 million units to 150 million units, and is expected to quickly double the blob capacity.
Ethereum developers have officially set the Fusaka upgrade target date for December 3
