Chairperson of Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission: Proposed to provide guidance for digital asset treasury and study the purchase of bitcoin by listed companies

Huang Tianyou, chairperson of the Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission, said yesterday that there is currently no regulation in Hong Kong to regulate listed companies to participate in cryptocurrency investment, and will monitor the market situation in the future and study to provide relevant guidelines for the market. Huang Tianyou added that there is currently no law in Hong Kong to regulate listed companies to participate in virtual asset treasury arrangements. For listed companies that claim to use digital asset treasury (DAT), Huang Tianyou called on investors to be careful to identify what DAT is and what the underlying value is, and also said that the issue of listed companies buying bitcoin will be studied.
