On Friday, October 31, crypto derivatives exchange Deribit will expire more than $17 billion worth of bitcoin and ethereum options contracts.
Among them, bitcoin options contracts include 72,716 call options contracts and 54,945 put options contracts, with a total value of $14.40 billion, which will expire on Friday; Ethereum (ETH) option contracts expiring on the same day are worth $2.60 billion. With the number of calls far outnumbering puts, traders are generally betting that bitcoin prices will rise before expiration.
It is worth noting that the "biggest pain point price" for bitcoin options is $114,000 - a price at which most options contracts become worthless. This price is significant because market makers can push bitcoin prices towards this level through hedging operations, especially as the expiration date approaches.
