The stablecoin Tether holds $135 billion in US Treasuries, overtaking South Korea as the world's 17th-largest holder of US debt as a country, according to chief executive Paolo Ardoino. Tether's holdings are close to Brazil, after Norway. Japan remains the largest foreign holder of US debt, with more than $1.10 trillion, followed by the UK and China.
