On October 28th, The Kobeissi Letter said in a post on the X platform that since 2024, the founders of SPAC (Special Purpose Acquisition Company) have raised more than $24 billion, more than the sum of the previous two years. 2025 is expected to be the strongest year for SPAC since 2021. Most recent SPAC deals are concentrated in the nuclear energy, quantum computing and cryptocurrency industries.
However, only 11 per cent of the 589 companies listed through the SPAC since 2019 are now trading above their original issue price. During this period, 31 per cent have gone bankrupt or been acquired, and 48 per cent have lost between 50 per cent and 99 per cent of their market capitalisation.
