Trump criticizes Powell and demands that the Federal Reserve cut interest rates quickly

President Donald Trump criticised the Federal Reserve on Thursday, again taking aim at its chairperson, Jerome Powell, for being slow to cut interest rates. In his speech in South Korea, Mr. Trump referred to "Jerome'too late 'Powell" and said he would not let the Fed raise interest rates because of concerns about inflation in three years' time. He predicted that the US economy would grow by 4 per cent in Quarter 1 2026, well above economists' forecasts. The comments underline the strained relationship between Mr. Trump and the Fed.
