This year, the fee landscape generated by mainstream Layer 1 blockchains has undergone tremendous changes.
At the beginning of the year, Solana generated more than 50% of fees in the mainstream Layer 1 blockchain, but now its share has dropped to just 9%. This decline is in part due to the intense competition between Hyperliquid and BNB Chain. At the beginning of the year, Hyperliquid and BNB Chain together generated about 10% of the total fees in the mainstream Layer 1 blockchain. As of last week, they each accounted for more than 40% and 20%, respectively. This shift is likely due to multiple factors such as market demand, user preferences, and structural changes, which have had a significant impact on the flow of funds.
