According to the latest announcement of the Norwegian Tax Authority, more than 73,000 people declared to hold cryptocurrencies in 2024, totaling more than $4 billion, an increase of about 30% year-on-year. Nina Schanke Funnemark, the tax director of the tax authority, said that a number of measures taken in recent years have paid off, and more people are required to declare crypto assets to ensure correct taxation. The data shows that about 550 million US dollars of declared assets are profits and 290 million US dollars are losses. Norway plans to require exchanges and custodians to report crypto holdings through third parties from 2026.
