The 18th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress voted on October 28 to pass the decision on amending the cyber security law, which will take effect from January 1, 2026. In response to the needs of artificial intelligence governance and development, the revised cyber security law makes it clear that the state supports the research and development of key technologies such as artificial intelligence basic theory and algorithms, promotes training data resources, computing power and other infrastructure building, improves artificial intelligence ethics, strengthens risk monitoring and evaluation and safety supervision, and promotes the application and healthy development of artificial intelligence.
