On October 28th, people familiar with the matter said that Amazon (AMZN. O) plans to cut as many as 30,000 corporate jobs as early as Tuesday local time. The e-commerce giant is currently trying to cut expenses to make up for problems caused by over-hiring during peak demand during the epidemic. Although the number of layoffs is only a small part of Amazon's total number of employees 1.55 million, it means nearly 10% of its about 350,000 corporate employees. If the plan is implemented, it will be the largest staff reduction since Amazon started 27,000 layoffs at the end of 2022.
