The Treasury secretary on Monday confirmed that a shortlist of five candidates to replace Federal Reserve Chairperson Jerome Powell was in the works and said Mr. Trump was expected to make a decision by the end of the year. Mr. Bescent told reporters on Air Force One on Monday that the pool of candidates had been narrowed down to current Fed governors Waller and Bowman, former Fed governor Walsh, director of the White House National Economic Council and BlackRock executive Reid. Mr. Bescent, who is conducting interviews for the position, reiterated that he planned to conduct a new round of interviews and hoped to present a "good list of candidates" to Mr. Trump after the Thanksgiving holiday.
