The Portuguese data regulatory agency CNPD has ordered Sam Altman's iris scanning project Worldcoin to stop collecting biometric data for 90 days. CNPD states that citizens face high risks in their data protection rights, and therefore there is reason to take emergency intervention measures to prevent serious harm. CNPD stated that over 300000 people in Portugal have provided biometric data to Worldcoin.
