Golden Ten Futures, May 9, according to foreign media reports, the Argentine Oilseed Workers' Union (SOEA) said on Thursday that the port of Rosario, Argentina's main export port for grain, and crushing plants have stopped operations due to a general strike. The Argentine Oilseed Workers' Union (SOEA) joined a 24-hour national general strike on Thursday to protest reforms proposed by President Milei, according to Argus. The National General Union (CGT) has called for a nationwide strike on May 9, according to market participants. Most unions have joined the national protests, including those representing truck drivers, banks, and port workers, which could lead to the suspension of operations in much of Argentina, market participants said. SOEA held a two-day strike last week in hopes of pushing through the proposed reforms by pressuring Congress.
