Economists forecast that the US consumer price index could rise 3.1 per cent year-on-year in September, which would be the highest level since it hit 3.3 per cent in May 2024. Gregory Dakko, chief economist at Parthenon-Ernest & Young, said the forthcoming US consumer price index data for September would confirm a renewed acceleration in inflation, with strong price momentum expected in both goods and services.
