On October 24th, according to The Verge, Trump is tearing down the East Wing of the White House to make room for a gilded ballroom. The president said the cost of the $300 million will not be borne by taxpayers, but by private donors, including himself. According to a list of donors released by the White House on Thursday, the list includes some of the largest technology companies in the United States, including Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta and Microsoft. Google-owned YouTube has agreed to pay more than $20 million to the project. The cryptocurrency space has also performed well, with donations from Ripple, Tether America, Coinbase and the Winklevoss brothers (Cameron and Tyler appear on the list separately). In addition, defense and telecommunications giants such as Lockheed Martin, Comcast, T-Mobile, and Palantir are also on the list.
