US officials deny talks with Quantum about government ownership

According to CNBC, a US commerce department official said the US government was not in talks with quantum computing companies to buy stakes in these companies on the condition of federal funds. "The department is not currently in talks with quantum computing companies regarding equity," the spokesperson said in a statement. Earlier, the Wall Street Journal quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that the Trump administration was in talks with companies such as IonQ, Rigetti Computing and D-Wave Quantum for government stakes.
