The annual rate of CPI in the United States may approach 3% in September, and the Federal Reserve is concerned about the direction of inflation

Dean Baker, chief economist at CEPR, a British research firm, said U.S. CPI data for September is likely to show a similar growth rate to August, with headline and core CPI annualized rates expected to be close to 3 percent, above the Federal Reserve's 2 percent target. The direction in which inflation is moving could worry the Fed, especially as the impact of tariffs has not yet been fully passed on to consumers. (Jin Ten)
