Nasdaq tokenized securities maintain the existing settlement cycle in the early stage

Nasdaq's chief executive, Adena Friedman, said the upcoming tokenised securities exchange, while offering the potential to speed up settlement, would initially follow traditional settlement times. Traders could choose to settle in the traditional way or through a digital wallet infrastructure. Nasdaq is working with DTC and plans to offer trading of digital securities on only a handful of blockchains initially. In the long term, Ms Friedman noted, tokenisation could improve collateral liquidity and reduce systemic risk by tightening settlement cycles.
