Lee Myung-koo, director of the South Korean customs agency, said on the 21st: "We are considering setting up a new virtual asset analysis department in the Seoul customs office, and will allocate specialized manpower in this field and enhance analysis capabilities."
"In the past, it was mainly illegal underground exchange through foreign exchange, but now it has evolved into the use of virtual assets for illegal fund transfer," Minister Li said at the National Assembly Planning and Finance Committee's national affairs supervision on the same day. Therefore, supervision and analysis capabilities need to be strengthened.
Responding to concerns that "in order to evade US tariff policies, the phenomenon of'detour exports' by some companies turning foreign goods into Korean-made products for export by disguising their origin is increasing", Minister Lee responded that "the manpower currently invested in this field is still insufficient", adding that "in order to properly respond, we will redistribute manpower, consider increasing staff if necessary, and continue to negotiate with relevant departments to promote relevant work."
