Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino revealed that the dollar-pegged stablecoin USDT welcomed its 500 million user on Tuesday. The stablecoin provides trading and savings channels for those who are excluded from the traditional banking system.
Tether said the figure represented 500 million "real users" rather than simply the number of Tether wallets - meaning its stablecoin is now used by about 6.25 per cent of the world's population.
