According to Eli Ben-Sasson, co-founder and CEO of StarkWare, blockchains created and controlled by enterprises (known as "enterprise chains") will eventually die because users will not want to use a chain controlled by a centralized entity.
In a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Mr. Ben-Sassen said he reinforced his view that "enterprise chains" could not last long because they contradicted one of the central tenets of blockchain, which requires "a break from its position as a centralised entity".
"The core element of blockchain is that it is a system free from a centralised entity," he says. "There is a price to pay for this: it is an extremely complex technology that is difficult to develop and has high barriers to use. Even if we apply account abstraction (AA) technology to create a cleaner user experience (UX), the underlying technology is still very complex."
