JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs analysts estimate that initial jobless claims in the United States may have fallen last week, but many remain unemployed because of lackluster hiring. They estimate that initial jobless claims by state fell to 217,000 in the week ending Oct. 11, seasonally adjusted from 235,000 in the previous week.
