Bitcoin Core developer Greg Maxwell: Some wasted or stupid traffic is the price of an open system

After the release of Bitcoin Core V30 on October 10, the debate between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Knots over email spam and op_return continued. Bitcoin Core developer Greg Maxwell wrote on Bitcointalk on the 15th that Bitcoin Core's views can be traced back to Satoshi Nakamoto, and that none of the main Bitcoin Core members particularly like NFT/junk coin traffic. Many even hate it, and even make most Bitcoin Knots members blush. But Bitcoin Core's commitment to individual freedom, self-determination, and related principles is strong enough that they recognize that some wasted or stupid traffic is the price of an open system. And the speculative small improvements associated with "spam" are not worth the risk of damaging the attributes that are the whole raison d'être of Bitcoin.
