United Bank of America (NYSE: USB) has established a new "Digital Assets and Funds Circulation" unit, which aims to accelerate the development of emerging digital products and services such as stablecoin issuance, cryptocurrency custody, asset tokenization and digital funds circulation, and to drive revenue growth.
Jamie Walker, a veteran of US banking and payments, will lead the "digital assets and money flow" unit. Mr. Walker has been with the bank for more than 20 years, and for the past eight years has been responsible not only for its merchant payment services (MPS), but also as chief executive officer of Elavon, its global merchant acquiring unit. Mr. Walker will remain head of merchant payment services while the company looks for a successor, who will report to Dominica Venturo, chief digital officer.
