SEC Chairperson Atkins Drives Regulation of Crypto and Tokenization Innovation

Paul Atkins, chairperson of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), said that cryptocurrencies and tokenization are "top priorities" for the SEC, and he wants the SEC to become a "Securities and Innovation Commission". Since taking office in April, Atkins has emphasized establishing a regulatory framework to attract companies back to the United States, supporting the development of distributed ledger technology, and plans to introduce "innovation exemptions" to accelerate the listing of on-chain products and services, while promoting cross-agency regulatory coordination. However, due to the government shutdown, the SEC currently has only a very small number of personnel to handle urgent matters.
