New York City Mayor Eric Adams signed an executive order to establish the nation's first "Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain" (Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain), which aims to coordinate the cooperation between the crypto industry and the government, and promote the implementation of compliance blockchain and crypto projects in New York.
Led by Moises Rendon, who has long been involved with the city's digital assets, the office's goals include promoting responsible use of blockchain, attracting fintech talent, expanding financial inclusion and promoting New York as a hub for crypto innovation. "The era of digital assets has arrived, and it presents us with opportunities for economic growth, talent attraction and service innovation," Adams said.
Adams, who spent his first three paychecks in bitcoin and dominated the first crypto summit in New York, is out of the race for re-election after his term as mayor ends at the end of the year.
