Golden Ten Futures, May 8, according to foreign media reports, some industry analysts said that the harvest of crops in the central part of Argentina's Pampas was significantly delayed, so the country's soybean production forecast was lowered to 48.50 million tons, about 2% lower than the previous estimate. Argentina's soybean planting area is expected to be 16.90 million hectares, slightly lower than the estimated 17.30 million hectares of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange and the Rosario Grain Exchange. According to data released by the Argentine Ministry of Agriculture, as of May 2, the country's soybean harvest rate was 34%, lower than the 47% in the same period last year, and the soybean harvest rate announced by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange was 36.2%. The forecast suggests drier weather, which will help dry out farmland and speed up harvesting, but the country could see very cold weather as early as next week, which is cause for concern. Most of the central Pampas' core production areas are expected to see near-freezing temperatures of 5-8 degrees Celsius below normal over the next 5-10 days.
