In response to recent rumors about its relationship with Hyperliquid founder Jeff, CZ issued a statement to clarify the situation.
CZ said Jeff was a member of Binance Labs' (currently known as YZiLabs) first incubation project in 2018, but the project ultimately failed, and Binance Labs failed to recover any investment. CZ said there was not much interaction with Jeff at the time, and only learned of the matter from Ella earlier this year.
CZ further clarified that, according to its understanding, Binance Labs did not receive or hold any investment (equity or tokens) in Hyperliquid. CZ had previously planned to speak with Jeff, but missed the meeting due to a scheduling error and was unable to reschedule it. CZ finally stated that it supports all builders regardless.
