Adam Back on Bitcoin Core V30: Bitcoin was not designed for email spam
2025-10-10 10:01:30
The final version of Bitcoin Core V30 has been released on Github today. A major upgrade to Bitcoin Core V30 is to remove the 80-byte limit of OP_RETURN data and increase it to 100,000. Commenting on this, Adam Back, a crypto-punk pioneer and founder of Bloackstream, commented that those who falsely claim that Bitcoin opcodes, parameters are "designed" or "used" for email spam are actually attacking Bitcoin with artificial legal risk. Bitcoin is not designed for email spam, it is all designed for financial transactions, smart contracts and small anchors, hashes, promises, and compact proofs of two layers like the Lightning Network.
