On October 10, according to the New York Times, a US government source said that despite the shutdown of the federal government, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics is still preparing to release the CPI data for September, but the specific release time is not clear, but it is almost certainly not the original October 15. The statistics agency has stopped all operations during the funding interruption, so it failed to release the non-farm payrolls report last week as originally planned. According to government sources, the bureau has begun to recall some employees to return to work to complete the report. The decision to release the data appears to be related to the annual Social Security cost adjustment process. The adjustment is based on the third quarter inflation data, so the delay in the release of the September price data may lead to a delay in the release of the cost of living adjustment. According to other foreign media reports, the Bureau of Labor Statistics plans to release CPI data for September before the end of the month.
