Markwayne Mullin, a Republican US senator, is introducing a new short-term funding bill that would keep the government open until December 18 or 19, according to Politico. "The biggest question we have to find now is, is it feasible to keep using the November 21 date in the event of a government shutdown?" Mullin told a small group of reporters on Thursday evening. "I don't think so." It was unclear whether Democrats would accept his proposal. Mullin said the White House would be involved in negotiations on the future of health care subsidies after the government reopened. "On health care, the president has made it clear that he wants to do something about it. I mean it's obvious".
