On October 10th, according to the Wall Street Journal, people familiar with the matter said that the Trump administration and Saudi Arabia are making progress on an agreement that will allow American chip companies to export semiconductors to the Gulf countries, and may soon finalize the agreement. The two sides have been discussing the agreement since May, when Trump touted chip agreements between Nvidia and AMD and Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The chips will be used in data centers that train artificial intelligence models and are a core part of the Trump administration's plan to export American technology to the world. The deal with the United Arab Emirates has also made progress recently. After the UAE finalized plans to invest in the United States, the US government agreed to provide it with some Nvidia chips.
