Microsoft's data center shortage will last longer than the company previously anticipated, with many data center regions in the U.S. facing a shortage of physical space or servers. New subscriptions to Azure Cloud as a Service are limited in some key server farm centers, including Northern Virginia and Texas, until the first half of next year, according to people familiar with the company's internal projections. The lack of servers available to rent to customers has been a recurring concern for cloud providers, with Microsoft, Amazon and Google all describing similar limitations, and Microsoft is struggling to balance customer demand across its data center fleet.
