Citi: Core inflation expected to cool in September

Citi economists expect core CPI to rise 0.28% in September, down from 0.35% in August. While tariffs are likely to keep commodity prices firm, slower housing inflation should ease overall services inflation. The government shutdown could delay the release of the data, but Citi said a softening labor market and cooling home prices reduced the risk of persistent inflation.
