A new report from Public Citizen, a consumer advocacy group, details the scope of political donations in the cryptocurrency industry, finding that cryptocurrency-related super PACs (political action committees) have raised more than $102 million for the 2024 election, the third-largest of all super PACs, with more than half coming from direct corporate spending, primarily provided by Coinbase and Ripple Labs. Of the six completed primaries in which cryptocurrency super PACs have intervened, only one cryptocurrency industry-backed candidate has lost.
