The position is responsible for formulating the potential token goals of the Base ecosystem and advancing the decentralization of governance in stages, including designing the governance system, writing the "Base Charter", establishing an on-chain voting mechanism and community participation process.
Previously, Jesse Pollak, the head of Base, and Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, both said that the team is "exploring the issuance of native tokens", marking a shift from Coinbase's original stance of "no token plan".
