Crypto asset manager Bitwise forecasts that U.S. bitcoin spot ETFs will attract record inflows in the fourth quarter, with the full-year total expected to exceed the sum of 2024.
Earlier this year, Matt Hougan, chief investment officer at Bitwise, predicted that bitcoin ETF inflows in 2025 would exceed the $36 billion in the first year. The actual inflows so far have been about $22.50 billion, and at this rate, it will reach $30 billion by the end of the year - slightly lower than the first year's results.
But in a memo to clients on Tuesday, Hougan expressed no concern that a strong fourth quarter is expected to drive inflows to record highs, fueled by three factors including the release of wealth managers, the skyrocketing price of bitcoin, and the "currency depreciation hedge" narrative.
